Automotive Journeyman Mechanic
Seeking a reliable Automotive Mechanic to join our outstanding fleet maintenance team. The Automotive Technician will maintain a diverse range of equipment, including delivery vehicles, heavy-duty on-road tractors, and trailers from various manufacturers. These vehicles use diesel, gasoline, and alternative propulsion systems such as compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, propane, hybrid, and electrical technologies.
Responsibilities
- Meets D.O.T requirements required by job assignment
- Performs physical tasks including bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing ladders and stairs, standing, walking, and turning/pivoting frequently throughout the workday
- Sits infrequently as required
- Exercises simple hand grasping, power hand grasping, fine hand manipulation, and reaching from foot level to above shoulder level
- Operates standard and manual transmission vehicles
- Operates power and pneumatic tools
- Troubleshoots and maintains hydraulic brakes, air brakes, electrical systems, and engine controls
- Performs DOT Inspections on trucks
- Works in variable temperatures and humidity, with exposure to cleaning materials, petroleum products, dust, dirt, noise, and outside inclement weather
- Communicates effectively to maintain proper job safety conditions
- Works cooperatively in a diverse work environment
Requirements
- Active driver’s license issued by the state
- 21 years or older
- Willing to work 1:00 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. shift, Monday-Friday
- Possess required hand tools to perform the job
- CDL Class A or B strongly preferred; candidates without a current CDL must be willing to obtain one within the first three months of employment
- Dependable with ability to report to work regularly and complete scheduled workdays consistently
- Available to work varying shifts, additional hours, and/or overtime depending on service needs
- Wears personal protective equipment as required
Qualifications
- Current documented 5 years of Automotive Mechanic experience working with diesel and gas heavy-duty vehicles
- Experience using diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and personal computers
- Hands-on experience with fleet repairs and/or dealership environments
- ASE Certification preferred

Pay
Starting pay for this position is $40.92 per hour with a one-year progression to top pay of $48.15 per hour. For union-represented postings, wage rates and benefit offerings are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions.
Must be a U.S. Citizen or National, an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer. Employer will not sponsor visas for this position. Must be currently located in the same geographic location as the job or willing to relocate to Edison, New Jersey.
