Core Responsibilities
- Damage Assessment: Evaluate cosmetic damage to determine whether it can be fixed via PDR or requires traditional auto body repair.
- Dent Removal: Use specialized metal rods, glue-pulling kits, and tap-down tools to gently reshape and massage metal panels back to their original form.
- Trim Reattachment: Remove and reinstall interior panels, trim, or lights to properly access the backside of dented exterior metal.
- Quality Control: Inspect the finished vehicle to ensure it meets dealership or retail cosmetic standards before returning it to the customer or sales lot.
- Inventory Turnover: Work quickly and efficiently to prep used and new inventory on a fast-paced dealership lot.
Key Qualifications
- Experience: 2 to 5 years of professional automotive PDR and cosmetic repair experience.
- Physical Dexterity: High level of hand-eye coordination, patience, and fine motor skills to manipulate metal without damaging the factory paint.
- Technical Knowledge: Understanding of different vehicle body materials, such as aluminum and high-strength steel.
- Tool Proficiency: Ability to properly handle specialized PDR rods, light boards, slide hammers, and rotary polishers.
- Vision Corrected: must have a field of vision at 20/20 or correctable to this standard.
- Certifications: Certifications from organizations like the [National Alliance of Paint-less Dent Repair Technicians (NAPDRT)], DingKing, or [Vale Training] are a plus.
