Responsibilities
- Provide maintenance and reliability services, championing executional excellence and critical electrical/instrumentation/automation asset health improvement efforts.
- Partner with the MFI ARM team, plant maintenance, operational teams, equipment suppliers, and other support teams to ensure success.
- Create, maintain, track, and communicate a critical electrical/instrumentation/automation equipment/component list.
- Ensure work orders for critical electrical/instrumentation/automation assets are in the CMMS backlog and effectively planned and scheduled.
- Work with technicians to ensure proper execution, documentation, and value capture of scheduled work orders.
- Report weekly and monthly to plant leadership on progress and opportunities for improvement in critical equipment care.
- Promote, execute, mentor, and coach excellence in electrical/instrumentation/automation preventive and corrective maintenance practices.
- Serve as a resource for improving the operating condition of critical equipment and enhancing the skill sets of the maintenance team.
- Maintain current regulatory licensure (e.g., electrical Masters or Journeyman).
- Comply with safety work rules and reinforce safety as a core value.
- Ensure adherence to all policies, procedures, and activities related to food safety and quality.
- Available to work scheduled work times, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
Requirements
- Lead electrical/instrumentation/automation maintenance team members to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
- Engage and develop the asset care team to deliver expected reliability levels.
- Contribute to the advancement of the MFI & ARM culture.
- Develop, implement, and champion Precision Maintenance® techniques.
- Identify, develop, justify, and implement critical maintenance and performance improvement projects.
- Work with the Corporate Reliability Team to develop and review real-time condition assessment data.
- Coordinate and facilitate critical equipment maintenance training for maintenance personnel.
- Develop and implement quality assurance and reliability procedures for critical spares and parts.
- Develop and implement quality commissioning procedures for rebuilt or new equipment.
- Work with vendors to address critical issues identified through root cause and condition-based maintenance programs.
- Lead or assist craftsmen during critical maintenance assignments.
- Lead technical troubleshooting tasks while assisting other plant personnel in a teaching environment.
- Utilize MFI-approved CMMS to manage, document, and support reliability reporting and decision-making.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records (e.g., SAP data, critical equipment, regulatory documentation).
- Provide input for root cause analysis (RCA) and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM).
- Maintain regulatory licensure (e.g., Masters or Journeyman) and perform duties to statutory expectations.
- Demonstrate a master’s-level understanding of the NEC code.
- Promote and foster Michael Foods’ culture, values, and principles.
- Act as a role model for safe work behaviors and ensure a safe, healthy workplace.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
- Follow quality work practices, GMPs, and maintain sanitary conditions to ensure product quality.
- Report conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
- Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in electrical engineering or a related field preferred; associate’s degree, two-year technical certificate, or relevant experience demonstrating technical and leadership aptitude may substitute.
- 5 to 8 years of experience as a maintenance electrician, preferably in industry or manufacturing.
- Electrical license or certification required per regional or national regulations.
- Master’s-level understanding of mechanical and/or electrical schematics and blueprints, including equipment-specific electronics diagrams.
- Ability to develop and/or modify existing drawings at an engineering level.
- Understanding of PLC and equipment automation preferred.
- Experience building and/or modifying control panels to a professional level preferred.
- Available to travel up to 10% of annual work hours.
- Prior experience with SAP preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, time management, and project scheduling abilities.
- Strong administrative and follow-up skills for condition-based maintenance, preventive maintenance, and precision corrective repair programs.
This role includes a sign-on bonus and is eligible for relocation.
