About the role
The Automation Technician I is an hourly position supporting the operation of an automated material handling system. This role focuses on ensuring the ASRS and associated automated components operate efficiently. Duties include diagnosing and resolving errors, monitoring system interfaces, and performing preventive maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Independently monitor and clear machine faults in the Warehouse Control System (WCS).
- Utilize the Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Warehouse Control System (WCS) to troubleshoot errors related to the automated warehouse.
- Maintain data integrity in the WMS and WCS for operational execution.
- Perform PM on automation equipment as assigned.
- Participate in continuous improvement teams on warehouse automation.
- Support secondary job tasks as a Maintenance Technician I and II, including paperwork, battery maintenance, and general maintenance.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Advanced technical training and/or certificate preferred.
- Knowledge and working experience with computer systems (preferably WMS and WCS).
- Familiarity with PLC, conveyor maintenance, and repair.
- Experience with ASRS cranes and repair.
- Proficiency in electrical systems and basic computer operation.
- Flexibility to work all shifts including weekends.
- Understanding of distribution center processes.
- Ability to communicate clearly and multi-task.
- Attention to detail and effective communication.
- Team-oriented and collaborative, with creative-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications
- Bend and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Lift up to 70 lbs. occasionally, with assistance.
- Work in a temperature range from +50°F to -30°F with moderate noise levels.
- Stand and walk for extended periods.
- Use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls.
- Operate scanners, tablets, radios, phones, computers, and other essential warehouse equipment.
- Engage in frequent personal interaction and communication.
- Possess strong arithmetic and reading skills.
- Follow verbal and written instructions, and company policies.
- Be a self-starter, able to work independently and coordinate with others.
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing stress and meeting productivity guidelines.
