Automation Programmer

About the role

In this role, you will install automation devices on a variety of oil field equipment. You will work closely with other internal teams and departments to support safe, efficient, and high-quality project execution.

Responsibilities

  • Install, program, test, and troubleshoot PLCs, RTUs, flow computers, and SCADA systems
  • Configure control logic, communications (e.g., Modbus), and third-party device integrations
  • Perform electrical and instrumentation work including calibration, loop checks, wiring, and termination
  • Install and maintain field automation equipment, piping, conduit, cable tray, and related hardware
  • Travel to customer sites and perform field work safely and efficiently
  • Troubleshoot and resolve automation issues in collaboration with customers and internal teams
  • Complete accurate service documentation and reports in a timely manner
  • Support on-call duties and promote a professional, safety-focused work environment

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or G.E.D. required
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; must be at least 18 years old to operate a company vehicle
  • One to four years of experience in the automation field, or a strong entry-level background with applicable training and a willingness to learn
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Familiarity with a variety of hand and power tools
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • A detail-oriented work ethic with a high level of accuracy
