About the Role

Symbotic is seeking an Automation General Manager to lead operations at one of our customer distribution center sites. In this role, you'll drive operational excellence, build strong customer partnerships, and develop a high-performing team. The General Manager is part of the site operations team within the Customer Operations organization, responsible for leading day-to-day operations of Symbotic’s robotic material handling system and driving best-in-class quality, safety, and system performance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day automation operations and production management at the customer site.
  • Conduct performance assessments, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Own the site operating plan and customer financial commitments, leading the team in executing against them.
  • Monitor and report on operational performance to customers and internal cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by maintaining quality standards and resolving issues promptly.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the site operations team by fostering a collaborative environment that encourages growth and continuous improvement.
  • Champion a culture of safety, quality, and operational discipline across the site.
  • Ensure full compliance with safety regulations, LOTO protocols, and company policies.
  • Support team development through coaching, training, and hands-on leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Industrial Automation, or Business Administration, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years of functional management and direct supervisory experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct leadership within an operations environment.
  • Experience in logistics, material management, inventory control, or manufacturing operations.
  • Strong understanding of operational metrics and performance management.
  • Proven ability to drive change and implement process improvements.
  • Budget preparation and financial management experience.
  • Flexibility for overtime and travel as needed.

Work Environment

  • Up to 10-15% travel may be required; travel during onboarding/training will be up to 60%.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
  • Responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed bi-weekly.
  • Must navigate steep stairs to access the automation structure and routinely walk up and down stairs.
  • Regularly work near railings that are high off the ground.
  • Subject to environmental conditions, including protection from weather but not necessarily temperature changes.
  • Must be capable of working in temperatures ranging from 105° to 32° Fahrenheit.
  • Frequent ability to safely and efficiently lift items weighing up to 50 lbs and move items weighing up to 80 lbs.
  • Stand/walk for up to 10-12 hours and frequently reach with hands and arms.
  • Routinely work at heights of up to 45 feet and within restrictive areas of 24 inches.
  • Must be able to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl as required.
  • Capable of occasional and/or continuous feeling, seeing, hearing, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, balancing, gripping, climbing, crawling, sitting, handling objects, and repetitive movement using both hands and feet.
  • Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) and fall protection safety protocols.

Pay

The base range for this position in the posted location is $108,000.00 - $162,000.00. Base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, and PTO benefits.
