Automation Engineer

About the role

Design clear, complete, and accurately working automation products and systems using CAD, rough or detailed sketches, and/or notes.

Responsibilities

• Create drawings, checking material dimensions and relationship to other parts and to the entire structure or project on the drawing.
• Review development plans for compliance with adopted engineering standards.
• Verify dimensional accuracy of structural layouts and installations.
• Work with manufacturing, vendors, and engineering to ensure documentation meets specifications.
• Collaborate with the sales team and customers on design and applications.
• Construct drawings from concepts or sketches.
• Review and critique proposed engineering standards, policies, or details.
• Act as project manager.

Requirements

• Equivalent to a two- or four-year degree preferred with major coursework in an engineering curriculum or a related area of study; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties of the job.
• Knowledge of PLC programming.
• Knowledge of electrical circuits.
• Strong math skills, including geometry and trigonometry.
• Proficiency with drafting programs.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with a willingness to accept challenges and strive for continual improvement.
• Safety-minded and practice shop safety.
• Self-motivated to work independently.
