About the role
The Automation Engineer designs, implements, and maintains the automated and control systems at a Carrier manufacturing facility, driving advanced, smart-manufacturing capabilities. This hands-on role integrates equipment, robotics, and control systems into the operation.
Responsibilities
- Designs, programs, and implements automation and control systems (PLC, HMI, SCADA, robotics, vision).
- Supports the implementation, integration, and fine-tuning of automated equipment.
- Develops automation projects to improve productivity, quality, and ergonomics.
- Diagnoses and resolves faults in control and automation systems.
- Partners with Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance on equipment upgrades.
- Documents standards, programs, and procedures for automated systems.
- Supports Industry 4.0 / smart-factory data connectivity initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- 3+ years of experience supporting automated manufacturing systems and production line optimization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, or Control Engineering.
- Knowledge of machine vision and Industry 4.0 / IIoT / Smart Factory and digital manufacturing.
- Programming across multiple platforms (Siemens, Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Fanuc, KUKA).
- Hands-on programming and troubleshooting of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and industrial networks.
- Hands-on experience owning the integration, implementation, and scaling of robotics and advanced automated equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings.
- Working knowledge of machine safety standards and safe equipment implementation practices.
Pay
The annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 and $158,000.00. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.
This position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
