Responsibilities

  • Investigate, confirm coverage, determine liability, establish damages, and negotiate settlements of auto claims, including single and multi-vehicle losses with basic coverage and moderate complexity of liability.
  • Perform in-depth investigation and analysis on losses such as multi-vehicle losses with comparative negligence.
  • Secure recorded statements of the drivers, police reports, vehicle photos, and estimates, and conduct scene investigations.
  • Make same-day contact with customers and explain the claims process and applicable coverage benefits.
  • Determine vehicle location and if drivable, offer vehicle repair and rental service options, and coordinate auto physical damage estimates.
  • Manage rental claims, communicate with customers, repair facilities, rental vendors, and claim specialists, and proactively manage and mitigate storage costs.
  • Communicate policy risk issues to Underwriting and escalate complex coverage issues to supervisor.
  • Analyze duties owed and breached by all potentially responsible parties and determine liability percentage for each party.
  • Escalate claims with exposures exceeding financial authority to supervisor and communicate liability decisions to customers, claimants, claim specialists, and Underwriting.
  • Recognize subrogation potential and make referrals to the Subrogation department when appropriate.
  • Investigate and recognize all potential claim exposures, including non-auto property damage exposures and resolve auto physical damage claims proactively and accurately.
  • Secure estimate of damages timely through appropriate repair channels and write, review, and adjust auto physical damage estimates for repairable vehicles with minor to moderate damages.
  • Issue and authorize claim payments to customers and repair facilities and explain the repair process and estimate to customers.
  • Manage rental claims through communication with customers, repair facilities, rental vendors, and claim specialists.
  • Handle and document files in compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain an active diary and resolution plan on open files.
  • Act as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • An active All Lines Adjuster license is required, or the ability to obtain licensure.
  • Experience with claims auto handling or related industry experience is highly encouraged.

Pay

The starting wage for this position is $26.01 per hour, plus eligibility for an annual bonus. Pay is dependent upon the candidate's geographic location and relevant claims experience.

Schedule

Department Hours of Operation: 7:00 am - 7:00 pm, Monday - Friday.
