About the role

The Auto Label /Auto Pack Setup Operator will be responsible for setting up, adjusting, and operating the auto box and other automated packaging machines and packaging the completed product.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 2nd shift: 3:00pm - 11:00pm

Pay

Hourly Rate: $19.00 - $20.79 + $1.00 Shift Differential

Responsibilities

  • Set up and configure automatic labeling and packaging machines, including label applicators, case sealers, cartons, and other equipment, according to product specifications, job orders, and safety guidelines.
  • Load packaging materials, such as labels, containers, cartons into the machine feeders or hoppers, and adjust machine settings, including speed and pressure, to ensure smooth and efficient operation.
  • Monitor production processes, including label application, filling, sealing, coding, and packing, to verify accuracy, quality, and adherence to production schedules and standards.
  • Conduct regular quality checks and inspections of labeled and packaged products to identify defects, misprints, or discrepancies, and make necessary adjustments or corrections to maintain product quality and integrity.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, mechanical issues, or process deviations, and perform minor repairs, adjustments, or preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and maximize machine uptime.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including machine settings, downtime, production output, material usage, and quality inspection results, using paper or electronic documentation systems.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines when operating labeling and packaging equipment, handling materials, and performing maintenance tasks to prevent accidents, injuries, or property damage.
  • Clean labeling and packaging machines, conveyors, and work areas regularly to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Collaborate with production team members, supervisors, and quality assurance personnel to identify process improvements, optimize equipment performance, and meet production targets.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and quality control guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and industry standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education and experience required.
  • Minimum one to two years related outside set-up and machine operation experience required.
  • Reach truck forklift experience may be required.

Skills

  • Knowledge of automatic labeling and packaging equipment.
  • Familiarity with packaging materials, such as labels, containers, cartons, or bags, and the ability to load them into machine feeders or hoppers and adjust machine settings accordingly.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills for diagnosing equipment malfunctions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and/or sitting and reaching with hands and arms.
  • May occasionally climb stairs, drive vehicles, and operate equipment.
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds at a time.
