Auger Crew Lead Operator

About the Role

Lead auger crew members to safely run jobsite operations.

Responsibilities

  • Work concurrently with crew to complete job while supervising work
  • Ensure that established safety procedures are followed
  • Provide work direction and promote teamwork amongst crew members
  • Daily logging and review of crew members' hours to ensure payroll accuracy
  • Represent the company on and off job sites and communicate effectively with general contractors and sub-contractors
  • Implement company policies and procedures to ensure work performance is in compliance with ISO, OSHA standards, and DOT regulations
  • Complete new hire paperwork for local union members when required
  • Provide daily reporting via tablet to administrative personnel
  • Serve as interface for internal and external customers to ensure satisfactory job completion
  • Communicate all problems to the superintendent in a timely manner
  • Verify auger details prior to starting the job
  • Inspect augers prior to use
  • Perform brace and auger maintenance as required
  • Verify ground locates have been completed prior to auger installation
  • Complete layouts of drawings as required for auger installation
  • Complete work in a manner that minimizes cleanup

Requirements

  • Valid commercial driver’s license (Class A)
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in commercial driving
  • Experience operating a skid steer
  • Computer skills
  • Ability to use construction mensuration equipment (e.g., transits, levels, laser levels)
  • Ability to work well with others and maintain professional conduct at all times
  • Possess excellent work habits and demonstrate them to subordinates
  • Knowledge of crane set-up and signaling
  • Knowledgeable about all aspects of erecting pre-cast buildings
  • Ability to effectively communicate with personnel at different levels
  • Ability to foresee potential problems and take necessary preventive action
  • Ability to work in an organized manner and adapt readily to change
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma (or equivalent)
  • Completion of OSHA 30-hour training

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to travel when required
  • Ability to work extensive overtime when required
  • Ability to work from heights
  • Field: Must be able to traverse uneven ground, move a minimum of 50 lbs., demonstrate spatial awareness/depth perception, and climb on a flatbed semi-trailer

Work Environments

  • Field: All types of weather conditions (year-round, Midwest and Northeast)
  • Exposure to dirt/dust and noise from heavy machinery/vehicles
