Auditorium Technical Specialist

Part-time, less than 20 hours per week. Non-exempt, non-benefit eligible.

About the role

The City of Ames Parks and Recreation Department seeks Auditorium Technical Specialists to provide artistic and technical expertise for events and activities. This is an ongoing, part-time position working as-needed days, evenings, nights, and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide artistic and technical expertise to internal and external groups; design and implement Auditorium Technician training in area(s) of expertise.
• Oversee daily operations and complete required paperwork (e.g., hour logs, incident reports).
• Enforce all auditorium policies, rules, and regulations; educate patrons about them.
• Respond quickly and effectively to emergencies; administer first aid, CPR, or use an AED as needed.
• Oversee inventory of supplies and equipment; notify manager of needs.
• Ensure a safe environment by minimizing hazards and inspecting the facility daily.
• Supervise internal and external groups and activities.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance as directed.
• Participate in training sessions and staff meetings.
• Other duties as assigned by the Auditorium and Bandshell Manager.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Fine Arts background.
• 5 years of experience in at least one area of technical theater or a combination of relevant education and experience.

Pay

$24.60 - $26.10 hourly.
