Audio-Visual Technologist

Responsibilities

• Deploy audio, video, and streaming equipment across lecture halls, student unions, and outdoor campus venues.
• Ensure all temporary gear is safely struck, neatly organized, and securely returned to the department after classes or special campus events.
• Operate mixing consoles, video switchers, and lighting boards during live shows to ensure seamless event execution.
• Think on your feet to manage live audio levels, transition presentation slides, and instantly resolve any technical hiccups without the audience ever noticing.
• Perform routine testing, preventative maintenance, and basic repairs on audio visual equipment to keep it in peak operating condition.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues using a deep understanding of signal flow to prevent live system failures and extend the lifespan of our valuable gear.
• Serve as the technical liaison for clients and event organizers, conducting site walkthroughs to understand their vision and requirements, and recommending the best equipment packages and stage layouts.
• Maintain strict control over equipment warehouses by accurately checking gear in and out, logging damaged items, and managing repair shipments.
• Track consumable supplies like batteries and tape to ensure the production team is always fully stocked.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• An associate’s degree and four (4) years of relevant experience.
• A bachelor’s degree in relevant field and 4 years’ experience.
• Experience with audio visual equipment, classroom technology, computer deployment and imaging systems.
• Ability to work independently and with teams for special projects.
