Attorney Supervisor

About the role

The Attorney Supervisor position involves overseeing one of the felony trial divisions, managing a reduced caseload, and supervising attorneys. The position requires a minimum of five years of experience as an attorney in criminal defense and a Juris Doctor or Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from an ABA-approved law school. Applicants must also be licensed to practice law in Arizona.

Responsibilities

• Develop and monitor performance plans, provide mentoring, coaching, and documentation for attorneys
• Maintain a fair workload balance among attorneys
• Assess training needs and develop trainings to enhance the office-wide training and mentoring of attorneys
• Collaborate with upper management to improve processes and implement innovative approaches
• Resolve client complaints and communicate effectively with stakeholders
• Attend continuing legal education seminars and present trainings and updates to employees and stakeholders
• Represent the department during stakeholder meetings

Requirements

• Five years of experience as an attorney in criminal defense
• Juris Doctor or Doctor of Jurisprudence from an ABA-approved law school
• Admission to practice law in Arizona

Qualifications

• Seven or more years of relevant criminal defense experience
• Prior experience supervising attorneys or staff in a law office

Skills

Effective communication skills, ability to manage a caseload, and proficiency in legal research and writing are essential. Proficiency in technology and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment are also valued.

Pay

The starting salary range is $131,000 - $195,500 annually. Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Schedule

The schedule includes regular office hours and may involve occasional travel to court locations, government facilities, and other job-related locations. Overtime and rotating shifts may be required.
