Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload involving family law matters, including divorce, child custody, parenting time, child support, and related domestic relations issues
  • Represent clients throughout all stages of litigation, from initial filings through resolution
  • Conduct comprehensive legal research utilizing platforms such as LexisNexis and Westlaw
  • Draft, review, and revise legal documents including pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, contracts, and correspondence
  • Prepare cases for hearings, mediations, depositions, and trial proceedings
  • Organize and maintain case files, evidence, discovery materials, and procedural documentation
  • Negotiate favorable settlements while protecting client interests
  • Utilize case management software to maintain accurate records and case updates
  • Stay current on developments in family law, civil litigation, and other applicable legal areas
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other stakeholders

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in the State Bar of Michigan and ability to practice in good standing
  • Demonstrated experience handling family law matters and civil litigation cases
  • Strong understanding of procedural and litigation practice
  • Excellent legal writing and drafting abilities
  • Proven negotiation and dispute resolution skills
  • Experience preparing and arguing legal motions
  • Ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple cases and deadlines
  • Exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills

Pay

$95,000 - $145,000 per year
