Attorney — Emphasis In Family Law
Responsibilities
- Represent clients in court for RFO hearings, DVROs, VSC/MSCs, and Trials on divorce, child custody, support issues, and DVROs, as well as during depositions.
- Draft and review family law pleadings and forms to ensure they are persuasive, correct, and timely filed, while overseeing the work of Paralegals and Case Managers.
- Conduct telephonic & Zoom conferences with clients to understand their needs, discuss legal strategies, and gather necessary information in a supportive manner.
- Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel/parties to achieve favorable outcomes for clients.
- Analyze case information to determine evidence requirements, assign tasks to Paralegals for information gathering, and manage document procurement for cases.
Qualifications
- Thrive in litigation, possess courtroom expertise, and confidently represent clients and the firm.
- Actively participate in developing case strategies, locate relevant statutes and case laws, and oversee the execution of the strategy by delegating tasks efficiently.
- Excel in investigating financial documents, organizing discovery materials, and selecting crucial information to support clients' positions.
- Skilled in negotiating settlements that align with clients' needs and objectives.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills, balancing empathy with candid feedback to guide clients towards decisions in their best interests.
- Capable of crafting persuasive and concise declarations within 5 to 7 pages.
- Demonstrate a high Emotional Intelligence (EQ) level, emphasizing the significance of personality, character, intelligence, and integrity in addition to experience and skills.
- A solid understanding of California Family Law nuances, including experience handling cases involving estates ranging from $200,000 to $2 million, and a commitment to continuous professional growth.
- Willing to take on various responsibilities as the firm expands, valuing all tasks regardless of complexity.
- Value timely billing practices, understand the importance of recording all billable hours accurately, and maintain contemporaneous time entries without reminders.
- Highly proficient in using multiple computer programs and software, comfortable working with two to three monitors simultaneously, and adept at transitioning to a paperless work environment.
