Job Description and Duties
Make a positive impact for injured workers by joining our San Diego State Contracts Legal team!
The San Diego State Contracts Legal unit is looking for an Attorney to join our talented and skilled legal team. At State Fund, we represent the insured employers and various State Agencies of California, handling challenging workers' compensation-related issues. As an Attorney with us, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact by handling, defending, litigating, and resolving workers’ compensation cases.
Location
The San Diego State Contracts Legal unit appears at the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board district office in San Diego. The successful candidates will be handling/litigating workers’ compensation cases and will make in-person and virtual appearances in San Diego.
This position will be housed at the following State Fund location: San Diego.
Your Role
- Collaborate closely with internal and external clients
- Draft compelling pleadings, correspondences, and communications
- Conduct thorough discovery
- Skillfully negotiate and draft settlements
- Make confident court appearances, including trials

Working Conditions
- To be considered, you must provide a fully completed STD 678 state application, resume, and statement of qualifications via CalCareers. Resumes submitted in lieu of the STD 678 may not be accepted. Completed STD 678 must include full duties performed, start and end dates, and hours worked per week for each position held.
- Selected candidate(s) hired may be required to attend in-person Onboarding at our Vacaville office with expenses for attendance paid by State Fund.
- Candidates must reside in California to be eligible for this appointment.
