The Property Staff Accountant will play a key role in managing the financial operations of given portfolio assets, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness in reporting. This position requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in accounting, preferably within the real estate or property management industry. The Property Staff Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager and is expected to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support the company’s financial goals.

Position Summary

Property Staff Accountant

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare financials statements and analysis for staff level assigned portfolio according to deadlines & requirements to ensure accuracy, internal controls, and timeliness.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with colleagues, investors, and upper management teams.
  • Update cash and reconcile bank statements weekly & monthly and analyze cash flow, accounts payable and recurring expenses.
  • Absorb all financial operating obligations are met promptly collaborating with owners and operation staff.
  • Record sound journal entries & accruals and take financial ownership of designated portfolio.
  • Complete monthly excel balance sheet reconciliations, schedules, and provide additional support during the monthly financials calls.
  • Accurately record income, expenses, and changes in assets and liabilities monthly.
  • Aid with year-end audit requests and ensure accounting standards and polices are met.
  • Oversee AP, payroll and billback cash management processes.

Requirements and Expectations

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited university or college.
  • 1-2 years of experience utilizing GAAP based accounting minimum.
  • Strong Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, and Word skills.
  • Experience in Real Estate or property management is ideal.
  • Onsite and Yardi property management software experience a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to be a strong contributor in cross-functional teams
  • Highly motivated and detailed individual who is driven to achieve excellence in every area.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet multiple deadlines and manage expectations.
  • Remain calm under pressure and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Self-starter and solutions oriented that can proficiently utilize technology to perform standard office tasks.

Work Environment

Role is hybrid after 90 days subject to successful work performance. One day work-from-home with an option for an additional day after 180 days.
