Athletic Facilities Foreperson
About The Role
As a key supervisor within the Parks, Recreation & Facilities Department, you will direct a dedicated team in the construction, maintenance, and management of our premier athletic facilities. This is more than just a groundskeeping job; it is a leadership position that requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic planning, and exceptional customer service.
What You'll Do
- Direct the application of organic and synthetic treatments in compliance with city ordinances and integrated pest management plans.
- Lead and train crews on sophisticated equipment usage and safety protocols.
- Manage advanced irrigation systems, adjusting for weather patterns and drought conditions.
- Coordinate critical snow removal and sanding operations to keep facilities accessible year-round.
Qualifications
We are seeking a proactive professional with a deep understanding of sports field management and soil science. You should be someone who thrives in a supervisory role and possesses the following qualifications:
- Expertise in turf disease identification and emergency field repair.
- Strong analytical skills for calculating nutrients, topdressing materials, and field geometry.
- Knowledge of municipal procurement and budget tracking.
- A valid Class C driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Certificate in Turfgrass Management (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
- Maine Commercial Pesticide License (3B & 6A) and AOLCP accreditation (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
- Current First Aid & CPR certification.
Schedule
Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., with occasional weekends. Applications accepted until position is filled. Offers of employment are contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory criminal background check.
Salary & Benefits
