About the role

Competing at the elite level—as an Olympian, World Champion, or D1 First Team All-American—has taught you what it takes to reach the top. The question is: can you convert those earned insights into concrete coaching methods that elevate students into top performers? Texas Sports Academy offers you a new competitive arena—one where you shape champions not from the sidelines, but through direct, daily coaching that challenges students to exceed their own boundaries.

Responsibilities

Your role extends beyond storytelling. You'll channel elite-level athletic discipline into practical motivational tools, deliver resilience training via interactive workshops, and lead rigorous practice sessions where championship expectations are the norm.

  • Conducting focused 1:1 motivation sessions that convert your competitive experience into targeted, practical coaching techniques
  • Delivering high-impact morning assemblies designed to energize and focus the entire student community
  • Guiding interactive life skills workshops where you coach students directly through exercises in resilience, leadership, and structured goal pursuit
  • Directing organized afternoon sports sessions that embody elite standards: creating drills, demanding maximum effort, refining technique, and instilling grit and collaboration through athletic training
  • Engaging proactively with all students across the day: moving through spaces during self-directed learning, stepping in to inspire when a student struggles, and seizing moments that catalyze new thinking

What You Won’t Be Doing

Observing from a distance as a symbolic presence: this role demands active participation. You will be on the ground, leading sessions, engaging students, and making real-time adjustments. Delivering conventional academic instruction or adhering to a set curriculum: students engage with content through adaptive technology. Your focus is life coaching, motivational guidance, and developing transferable skills through athletics and mentorship.

Requirements

  • Former elite athletes who have proven themselves at the very top of sport — Olympians, World Champions, pro players in the NFL, NBA, MLB, MLS, or NHL, or NCAA Division I All-Americans
  • Bachelor's degree in any subject
  • Proven experience using sport to mentor and coach life skills
  • Demonstrated motivational leadership in athletic, academic, or professional settings
  • Legal right to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
  • Willing to live in or relocate to Austin, TX
