Asst Director Patient Care-Pediatrics Unit
Job Summary
The Assistant Director Patient Care is responsible for coordinating available resources to efficiently and effectively provide professional nursing care of a quality consistent with the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Standards of Care to the patients assigned to their unit.
Job Qualifications
Education: Licensed to practice Professional Nursing in New Jersey. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required, with national certification in a clinical area preferred.
Experience: One to three years of relative clinical practice.
Job Functions
Development and Management of Personnel: Facilitates the safe and effective functioning of the unit through interviewing and hiring unlicensed and licensed personnel, facilitating the orientation process, and contributing to the professional growth and development of staff.
Management of Patient Care Delivery: Maintains clinical expertise by providing care that is safe, effective, and consistent with Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Standards of Patient Care, applying knowledge of growth and development over the life span, and incorporating current research findings into clinical practice.
Professional Development: Attends formal educational seminars/classes to enhance knowledge on both clinical and administrative issues, participates in the orientation program for new head nurses, and maintains membership in a professional organization.
Unit Management: Plans staffing in accordance with established standards, completes and posts schedules, ensures accurate and timely completion of patient classification systems, and participates in quality and cost initiatives.

About the Role
This position reports to the Director AVP and is responsible for overseeing the pediatric unit at RWJ New Brunswick.
