Asst/Assoc Professor - General, Hospitalist and/or Sports Medicine

About the Role

The Department of Family Medicine is seeking a physician to provide compassionate and quality clinical care for patients with a wide range of family medicine conditions. Potential focus areas include inpatient only (hospitalist), inpatient/outpatient mix, or sports medicine. Rank (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor) and salary are dependent upon the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the training and education of residents and medical students.
  • Assesses patients by obtaining and reviewing health histories, assessing presenting illness, and performing appropriate physical examinations.
  • Orders laboratory, diagnostic, and screening tests.
  • Develops and implements treatment plans, including medications.
  • Educates patients on wellness, illness prevention, and disease management.
  • Instructs patients and families regarding medications and treatments.
  • Coordinates care with subspecialists.
  • Prepares and completes timely and accurate documentation for medical records.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members.
  • Participates in quality improvement, continuing education, and patient care programs established by the department, clinic, and/or hospital.
  • Contributes to the provision of subspecialty clinical care, if applicable.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), or Foreign Medical Equivalent Degree (e.g., MBBS).
  • Completion of, or in the process of completing, an ACGME Family Medicine Residency.
  • Must hold or be eligible for ABFM board certification (including in training to become eligible).
  • Completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 3.

Pay

Compensation is commensurate with the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan. For additional information, refer to the institutional pay plan website.

Schedule

Full-time, monthly pay basis.

Odessa, Texas – Department of Family Medicine.

Visa Information

TTUHSC may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions at its sole discretion, in accordance with directives from Governor Abbott and with approval from the Texas Workforce Commission. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may sponsor eligible individuals for change-of-status or change-of-employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not cover the $100,000 fee, if applicable.
