Associate Teacher (Academic Year) - School for the Deaf #60010112

Responsibilities

• Assists the classroom teacher with the implementation of the Individual Education Plan for each student served as assigned by the teacher.
• Assists with the mechanics of classroom management on a daily basis, including preparation of class materials, managing student behavior by use of student Code of Conduct and/or individual behavior plans, assists with individual self-care needs (lifting as needed).
• Provides supervision of students served according to student competency, rules and regulations of SCSDB.
• Assists with the necessary record keeping, data collection, preparation of behavior/progress reports, and daily communications.
• Communicates effectively with students in developing language, conceptual and behavioral skills, using a variety of methods based on each student's individual ability.
• Also assists the teacher with monitoring daily schedules, supervision of students during lunch and on field trips, as well as during trips to the health center.

Requirements

• A high school diploma and experience in general administration, education or child care working with children in an educational setting and/or behavior management program.
• This position may require communication modalities dependent upon employment placement.
