Teacher Assistant, Deaf Education
About the Role
Provides support to assist teacher(s) or other certificated employee(s) in implementing the instructional program for students whose primary disability is deaf or hard of hearing.
Responsibilities
- Assist teacher(s) or certificated employee(s) in implementing the instructional program for deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
Requirements
- Must currently possess or obtain CPR/First Aid Certification within 30 days of employment.
- If hired, must provide proof of a valid California Driver’s License.
- Screening of utilization of signing skills.
- One of the following to qualify for the position:
- Completion of 60 Semester Units (2 years of study) at an institution of higher education.
- Possession of an Associate’s Degree or higher.
- Passing of a local assessment in Reading/Writing and Mathematics (conducted on the day of the interview).
- Math knowledge equal to high school level (basic fractions, percentages, word problems, etc.).
- Reading/Writing skills equal to high school level (comprehension, proper language, etc.).
