About the role

The 92nd Street Y Nursery School seeks an Associate Teacher to foster a collaborative and supportive environment where children, parents, and educators can thrive. This role involves working closely with the Head Teacher, collaborating with the teaching team, and supporting the school's mission and vision.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with the Head Teacher in planning, report writing, and parent communication
• Prepare and clean up classroom materials
• Support the development of long- and short-range goals and weekly/monthly activities
• Establish and maintain professional communication with parents
• Use appropriate discipline techniques and observe, evaluate, and document child progress
• Attend and participate in teaching team meetings
• Supervise children in all areas and activities
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree required; Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred
• N.Y.S. Teacher Certification preferred
• Minimum of 3 years teaching experience
• Excellent written, verbal, and diplomatic communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Experience utilizing Brightwheel, Zoom, and Google Photo
• Ability to work with a diverse cultural population
• Understanding of Jewish traditions and culture a plus

Qualifications

• Must hold or be able to obtain all relevant qualifications to comply with the New York City Department of Health requirements
