Job Overview
The Associate Shop Technician is responsible for performing inspections, maintenance, and other preparations for machine equipment. They also complete work orders for machines and ensure they are ready for shipment to customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs inspections and preventative maintenance such as topping off fluid levels, greasing service points, replacing batteries and other similar duties on assigned equipment of machine equipment.
- Prepares machines for customers by installing features, removing/adding parts, and performing function tests.
- Performs mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of machines.
- Reads and interprets equipment manuals/work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Replaces and repairs parts on machines.
- Utilizes a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment.
- Detects faulty operations, defective material, and reports any unusual situations to supervisor.
- Complies with safety regulations and maintains a clean work area.
- Receives incoming freight and conducts inventory of items.
- Prepares and loads machines for shipping.
- Participates in training classes at the CTT as required.
- Assists with other departments as needed.
Skills
- Ability to communicate politely and courteously with co-workers, supervisors, and other business partners to ensure a positive and productive work environment.
- Ability to interpret and understand schematics, blueprints, and drawings.
- Ability to safely operate various hand tools, power tools, large shop tools, test instruments such as Voltage Meter, material handling equipment.
- Basic knowledge of office clerical tasks including data entry and form completion (written or electronic).
- Proficient understanding of mechanical terminology and techniques.
- Basic knowledge of general equipment maintenance (such as checking fluid levels and lubrication).
Education and Experience
- High-school diploma or GED required with less than 1 year of relevant work experience.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, bend, crouch, lift, and reach.
- The employee often uses hands and finger dexterity to handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
- Must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
