About the role
The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) seeks an Associate Project Manager to oversee construction management consultants and ensure compliance with DEP procedures.
Responsibilities
- Reviews construction management (CM) service submittals and supervises consultants
- Coordinates with engineers and CM consultants on project issues
- Ensures CM cost proposals and payment packages comply with DEP procedures
- Recommends or reviews CM consultant submittals for upper management approval
- Makes necessary coordination with stakeholders to ensure project progress
- Monitors CM consultants' budget, scope, and schedule
- Ensures CM consultants provide professional inspection services
- Tracks CM consultant performance using metrics
- Complies with EH&S procedures
- Reviews weekly high priority reports, monthly KPI reports, and monthly CM consultant budget reports
- Occasionally creates presentations on critical projects
- Routinely updates project information in the CM project folder server
Requirements
- One year of full-time satisfactory experience in supervising employees performing project management work
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, construction, construction management, construction technology, sustainable design, urban planning, transportation planning, business administration, or public administration, and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in project management work
- A four-year high school diploma or its equivalent and five years of experience as described in "1" above
- One year of experience credit for each 30 semester credits of college or university education leading to a bachelor's degree, a Master’s degree, a Juris Doctor degree, or a valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer, Registered Architect, or Registered Landscape Architect
- At least one additional year of experience as a supervisor or at least two additional years as a project manager for a large and/or complex construction project
Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or BSc in Construction Management
- Familiarity with facilities, equipment, and processes related to wastewater treatment
- Effective judgment and decision making
- Quantitative analysis and interpretation
- Written expression
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Excellent interpersonal and team skills
- Construction management knowledge
Pay
$78,740.00 – $114,033.00
