Overview

The Internal Medicine Residency Associate Program Director oversees and directs a dedicated team to provide a high-quality, comprehensive, and patient-centered learning and clinical experience at St. Mary's Medical Center. This role involves administrative leadership for the Internal Medicine Residency Program and assisting in the operational and financial management of the program.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight and direct supervision of the Internal Medicine Residency Program
  • Accountable for all program outcomes through leadership and administrative oversight
  • Identifies and establishes meaningful educational support relationships with residency, fellowship outreach, and other training programs
  • Ensures learning objectives are accomplished through appropriate blended patient care responsibilities and clinical teaching
  • Recruits, determines qualifications, and calibrates residency faculty
  • Oversees resident recruitment; ensures the quality of clinical education; and works directly with residents to ensure appropriate milestone development, while meeting ACGME and other regulatory body requirements
  • Collaborates with academic consortium to develop and ensure quality curriculum
  • Develops outcomes that identify measurable behaviors reflective of the defined area of practice, describing knowledge, skills, and affective behaviors participants gain upon completion of the program
  • Maintains and develops residency budget
  • Ensures residency policies and procedures align with the policies and procedures of Prime Healthcare
  • Collaborates to ensure alignment between residency program and Medical Administration at St. Mary's Medical Center

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in administrative and core faculty member roles in an ACGME-accredited Internal Medicine residency program
  • M.D. or D.O. degree required
  • Board-certified in Internal Medicine
  • Active license or willingness to obtain a license in the State of Missouri (Required)
  • Experience as a Core Faculty, Associate Director, or Director of an Internal Medicine Residency Training Program
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in teaching in a residency program preferred
  • A comprehensive and detailed understanding of national accreditation policies (ACGME) and a high degree of initiative and independent judgment
  • A passion for resident and student teaching and a commitment to caring for the urban, underserved patient population
  • Operational management, including budget preparation, experience in administrative support of a department, and demonstrated ability to manage detailed projects
  • A history of scholarly activities and research
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
  • A creative thinker with a demonstrated passion for teaching and learning
