Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology

About the Role

This is a full-time, exempt, 11-month on-campus position located in Oahu, Hawaiʻi. The Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology will teach doctoral courses and advise students within the Hawaiʻi School of Professional Psychology PsyD program. The role involves active participation in curriculum development, assessment, accreditation, and student-related activities.

This position reports to the Program Director of the Hawaiʻi School of Professional Psychology at Chaminade University of Honolulu.

Responsibilities

  • Teach 18 teaching credit hours per academic year in the PsyD program.
  • Provide comprehensive advising on dissertations and student research.
  • Offer academic advising and mentorship to students.
  • Actively participate in University, School, and Department committees.
  • Engage in the accreditation process and program assessment.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and grant writing.
  • Develop scholarship through publications and conference presentations.
  • Attend meetings and provide service for program, school, university, and community committees.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, including occasional nights, weekends, and varying schedules.
  • Adhere to all safety and health regulations and report unsafe conditions.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology (minimum requirement).
  • Licensed or license-eligible as a Clinical Psychologist in the State of Hawaiʻi; must retain licensure throughout employment.
  • Two years of teaching experience in a university/college setting (preferred).
  • Licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in the State of Hawaiʻi (preferred).
  • Experience managing supervisees on performance and professional conduct (preferred).
  • Excellent record of teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels (preferred).
  • Demonstrated potential for scholarly research (preferred).
  • Strong understanding and experience working with culturally and ethnically diverse students, especially those from Hawaiʻi's local culture.

  • Willingness to teach a variety of psychology courses in a diverse educational setting.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace applications, and related software.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize work and resources.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and interpret data to prepare reports.
  • Knowledge of common office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers.

Physical Requirements

  • Light work in an office and community setting with intermittent sitting, standing, climbing stairs, and walking inclines.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds and navigate the campus with ease.
  • Excellent motor skills and finger dexterity.
  • Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively.
