Associate Professor in Psychology (TT)

Location: Stockton

Full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Advanced Assistant or Associate Professor in Psychology to begin August 2026. Review of applications will begin September 1, 2025.

About the Role

The Department of Psychology at the University of the Pacific invites applications for a faculty member whose expertise will complement and expand those of the current faculty. The field of specialty within psychology is open. The ideal candidate will have a record of excellent undergraduate teaching and research mentorship, a strong research program, and substantive experience as department chair or with similar administrative responsibilities. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in psychology.

The University of the Pacific is a comprehensive university with several professional schools and about 4,800 students on the Stockton campus. The Department of Psychology consists of eight full-time faculty who provide coursework in theoretical and research foundations of psychology, with intensive student involvement in research and applied experiences. Psychology is one of the largest majors in the University, with over 200 undergraduate majors and minors.

Responsibilities

• Teach four courses per academic year (2-2 semester course load), including:
  • Introduction to psychology
  • College's first-year seminar program
  • Research methods
  • Upper-division lab courses within the candidate’s area of expertise
• Mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students
• Engage in scholarly activity by:
  • Publishing in academic and professional journals
  • Presenting at academic and professional conferences
  • Actively involving undergraduate and graduate students in research
• Serve on departmental, college, and university committees
• Serve one or more terms as Department Chair post-tenure
