Assistant/Associate Professor of Psychology

Colorado Christian University is seeking a full-time faculty member to teach in-seat Psychology courses in the residential undergraduate program, starting Spring or Fall 2027. This role involves teaching and curriculum development within the Department of Psychology, part of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) in the College of Undergraduate Studies (CUS). The department is dedicated to teaching Psychology from a conservative, theologically-informed, Christ-centered perspective, aiming to transform students to impact the world for Christ.

About the role

Faculty members at Colorado Christian University (CCU) teach assigned courses for which they are highly qualified within the College of Undergraduate Studies (CUS). Courses are traditional, in-seat, and offered on the Lakewood, Colorado campus. The primary responsibility is to integrate field-specific pedagogy with a biblical and Christian worldview, aligning with CCU’s spiritual, academic, and cultural Strategic Priorities. Additional duties include supporting the university’s mission through committee participation, course development, academic advising, scholarship, community engagement, and other tasks assigned by the dean. Faculty are expected to maintain regular office hours and engage with students holistically.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to CCU’s mission of Christ-centered higher education transforming students to impact the world with grace and truth.
• Teach assigned undergraduate courses within the College of Undergraduate Studies (CUS) using best-practice teaching and learning strategies.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate course curriculum, teaching practices, and student learning outcomes.
• Maintain established office hours and engage with students for academic advising, mentoring, and support.
• Participate in professional organizations and scholarly work, including publications and presentations.
• Provide strategic thinking to support the goals of the College of Undergraduate Studies and the University’s Strategic Priorities.
• Advocate for CCU’s mission, traditional Christian beliefs, and Strategic Priorities.
• Foster a Christ-centered community of learners and scholars within the College of Undergraduate Studies.
• Demonstrate servant leadership among faculty, staff, students, and administrators.
• Work collaboratively with administrators, colleagues, and support staff to maintain positive working relationships.
• Participate in extracurricular activities to support students, colleagues, and staff.
• Assist the dean with additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field preferred; master’s degree required.
• Must be considered highly qualified as outlined by the university’s accreditation and academic standards.
• Successful teaching experience in a college or university preferred, with a proven track record of quality classroom instruction and student engagement.
• Deep acquaintance with the doctrinal and experiential aspects of Christianity.
• Vibrant faith in Christ and ability to teach Psychology courses from a biblical perspective, Christian worldview, and Christian presuppositions.
• Superior teaching, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Learning Management Systems (e.g., Brightspace).
• Committed follower of Jesus Christ, with a personal relationship and alignment with CCU’s Statement of Faith and Strategic Priorities.
• Regular attendance and engagement in a Bible-believing evangelical local church.
• Lifestyle consistent with sound Christian principles and compatible with CCU’s mission.

Location

Fully on-site at the Lakewood, Colorado campus. Must reside and work legally in the U.S.

Schedule

12-month renewable contract. Responsible for teaching 24 credits per year (typically 4 undergraduate courses per semester).

Pay

Faculty pay is assigned by rank at a range of $60,000 - $70,000 annually, determined by a combination of job-related factors, including internal/external pay equity, salary structure, and candidate qualifications.
