Assistant/Associate Professor of Psychology

About the role

The Department of Psychology, within the Hairston College of Health and Human Sciences at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, is seeking an assistant or associate professor with a Ph.D. in Neuropsychology. Preference will be given to candidates with a research focus in 1) substance use disorders, 2) memory and cognition, 3) applied psychology, or 4) health psychology. The selected candidate will be expected to provide student-centered teaching and instruction of undergraduate courses in their discipline. They will also teach graduate level courses for the MS in Health Psychology and the PhD in Applied Psychology in courses aligned with their area of expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and sustain a strong, externally-funded research program aligned with their field of expertise.
  • Produce an excellent record of scholarly publications.
  • Incorporate modern pedagogical skills in undergraduate and graduate psychology courses.
  • Supervise and support psychology students in independent research projects.
  • Engage in service at the department, college and university as well as to appropriate community and professional organizations.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Psychology or a closely related Psychology sub-discipline at the time of appointment.
  • A demonstrated record of scholarly research with a health-related focus.
  • A strong commitment to promoting and enhancing inclusiveness and collaboration in alignment with the University’s commitment to maintaining and enhancing a diverse environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate psychology courses.
  • Experience supervising and supporting psychology students in independent research projects.
  • Experience engaging in service at the department, college and university as well as to appropriate community and professional organizations.

Pay

Commensurate with education and experience.

Schedule

9-month, tenure-track position.
