About the role
The George W. Daverio School of Accountancy in the College of Business at The University of Akron invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track appointment in Accounting at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, starting in August 2027.
Responsibilities
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Accounting
- Research and scholarship in the field of Accounting
- Service to the department, the university, and the profession
Requirements
- PhD/DBA or equivalent in accounting or a related area from an AACSB accredited institution
- SJD/JSD in taxation from an ABA accredited institution, or a J.D. (or equivalent) / MTax from an ABA accredited institution, or a PhD/DBA in a related area with professional certification in accounting
- All degree requirements must be completed by August 23, 2027
Qualifications
- A balanced commitment to excellence in teaching, quality research, and service
- Effective teaching, scholarly productivity, and service to the university and the profession are required for retention, promotion, and tenure
Preferred Qualifications
- Professionally certified (e.g., CPA, CIA, CMA)
- Professional experience in tax consulting, public accounting, or relevant industry experience
- AI skills, including the ability to incorporate AI and information technology tools into teaching and curriculum development
Pay
Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
