Associate - Privacy and Digital Risk Class Action and Litigation
About the role
BakerHostetler is seeking a junior litigation associate to join its premier Digital Assets and Data Management Practice Group in Philadelphia, PA or Wilmington, DE. The successful candidate will join our national team in advising and representing clients of all sizes and sectors in investigation and litigation matters involving cybersecurity, digital privacy, Internet speech (defamation, stalking, threats, First Amendment), cybercrime, white-collar crime, intellectual property theft, commercial, and employment issues. The litigation docket includes both civil and criminal cases, with a heavy focus on cybersecurity and digital privacy class actions, commercial and employment disputes, and regulatory enforcement actions. The investigations docket includes internal, regulatory, grand jury, and congressional investigations focused on a wide range of issues.
Responsibilities
- Significant pre-trial experience with pleadings, motions, discovery, and ADR
- Exceptional project management skills
- Ability to manage a fast-paced, complex workload while maintaining priorities and anticipating issues
- Strong interpersonal and professional skills required to succeed in a collaborative team environment and to interact effectively with clients
- Demonstrated attention to detail
- Demonstrated interest in the evolving intersection of law and technology
- Demonstrated interest in developing substantive expertise across cybersecurity, privacy, social media, Internet speech, cybercrime, and white-collar matters
Requirements
- 2-3 years of civil, class action, criminal, or regulatory litigation experience
- A strong academic record, having earned a J.D. from a nationally recognized and accredited law school
- Outstanding writing and oral communication skills, including experience gained through law journals, judicial clerkship, or comparable roles
- Admission to practice in Pennsylvania or Delaware (or eligibility to waive into practice in Pennsylvania)
