The West Coast Science team at Arup is seeking an Associate Principal - Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Leader to join our multi-disciplinary team in Seattle. You will work on projects within the Healthcare industry and beyond, offering the opportunity to make a strong contribution to the community while delivering cutting-edge systems that meet challenges in decarbonization and sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a Project Leader / Project Manager to lead multi-disciplinary design projects, specifically within our healthcare business.
  • Cook up with multiple disciplines and work in conjunction with project managers to deliver comprehensive and coordinated design deliverables.
  • Responsible for quality standards, commercial metrics, and client relations for projects.
  • Lead and develop a team of multidisciplinary engineers across office locations with a focus on sustainable design.
  • Lead business development activities including client outreach and relationship management, project tracking & positioning, responding to proposals, and preparing bids.
  • Maintain strong client relations as it pertains to project delivery and repeat business.
  • Represent Arup in the industry at high levels nationally and internationally, e.g., think tanks, standard committees and international conferences.
  • Create an environment of inclusivity that inspires the growth and career development of junior and senior team members.
  • Monitor project progress, milestones, and deliverables to identify and address potential issues or risks.
  • Act as an engineer of record to sign and seal drawings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or architectural engineering required.
  • Minimum 15 years of professional experience designing Mechanical or Electrical building systems, and experience leading Healthcare project teams on medium to large scale projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based work.
  • Experience in leading multidisciplinary projects and managing complex and large scale client relationships.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively, balance assigned work, and exceptional organization skills required for our constantly evolving environment.
  • Professional Engineering license is required or ability to obtain within 6 months of joining the firm.
