Associate Press Operator (1st Shift)

About the role

As a Press Operator, you will operate an automatic stamping press to produce quality components while maintaining safety, efficiency, and LEAN production goals. This position follows the first shift schedule, Monday – Thursday, 6:00 am – 4:30 pm. Overtime, including additional days, may be required based on business need.

Responsibilities

• Operate automatic stamping presses to support department and company goals (70%).
• Use powered hand tools to make adjustments to equipment as necessary.
• Communicate with department leadership regarding issues and improvements. Assist other associates with press set-ups and changeovers (10%).
• Perform quality inspections to blueprints and specifications using provided precision measuring tools and maintain a clean work environment to meet 6S standards (10%).
• Count, package, and palletize finished product in accordance with work orders. Ensure auxiliary equipment is operating to standard (10%).

Requirements

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
• 1 year of related experience and/or training preferred.
• Consistently prioritize safety by demonstrating safe work practices and promoting a safe work environment.
• Demonstrate reliable, punctual attendance.
• Able to remain standing the entire duration of shift and lift up to 40 lbs using proper technique consistently.
• Apply basic math skills.
• Comprehend a variety of instructions furnished in English, including written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Communicate one-on-one and in small group settings.
• Read a tape measure to 1/32” tolerance, use a protractor to measure angles to +/- 1 degree, and use and read a micrometer and caliper.
• Identify options for solving problems encountered during the manufacturing process.
• Use a computer or touchscreen to perform daily tasks and required training.

Pay

$16.44 - $24.66 / hour

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment while standing for approximately 8-12 hours, regularly twisting and bending in a repetitive motion. The employee may frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.

Work Environment

The job may risk exposure to heat and/or cold, loud noise levels, vibration, and moving mechanical parts.

This full-time, non-exempt position is located in Columbus, OH. Relocation is not available for this position.
