Assistant Press Operator-1st Shift

About the role

TekniPlex is hiring an Assistant Press Operator-1st Shift for our Madison, WI facility. This role involves assisting press operators, slitting operators, and/or compounding operators with the set up and operation to produce products according to customer standards. The Production Assistant is responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring quality product through adherence to plant's OHSE and Quality Systems.

Responsibilities

• Aid in the set-up and operation of printing and slitting equipment to meet quality and productivity requirements
• Complete documentation accurately
• Maintain housekeeping standards of production equipment and the surrounding area
• Perform packing and material handling tasks as needed
• Perform work in the cleaning room
• Perform core cutting as required
• Help the site meet its quality objectives
• Follow all company safety rules and procedures
• Work in setup area as required
• Assist with training as required
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment
• Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
• Participate actively in the continuous improvement process (CIP)
• Identify and address opportunities to reduce cost, improve the product/process and/or the overall operation
• Participate in CIP teams to eliminate problems, streamline operations or other areas as defined by management
• Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1-2 years of experience operating a press preferred
• Forklift experience
• Proficient math and measurement skills, knowledge of metric conversion required
• Knowledge of mechanics and general chemistry preferred
• Basic knowledge of safety principles and eagerness to maintain safety standards
• Ability to detect and solve problems that affect our finished products
