Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner
- Obtain accurate and updated patient information, such as name, address, insurance information
- Perform insurance verification on the date of service
- Check in and check out patients
- Schedule appointments in an organized and efficient manner
- Obtain patient signatures for required documents
- File and maintain medical records
- Confirm and schedule appointments
- Follow the Payment Security policy and procedures according to Optum Medical guidelines
- Perform referral documentation promptly
- Perform certain follow-up services for patients in a prompt and courteous manner, such as scheduling specialist appointments
- Adhere to the standards identified via Sparq regarding Optum Employee Policies
- Work cohesively with fellow employees to achieve specific team goals
- Comfortable working in a high pace environment
- Ensure the continuity of care through scheduling and tracking systems
- Provide effective communication to patient/family team members and other healthcare professionals as evidenced by documentation, case conferences, communication notes, and evaluations
- Comply with administrative policies to ensure quality of care
- Demonstrate precision and efficiency in scanning documents and monitoring the fax server, retrieving and / or scanning documents and assigning to the appropriate electronic chart
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ years of computer proficiency experience (multi-task through multiple applications including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word)
- 1+ years of customer service experience
- 6 months plus of Healthcare related experience
- Ability to travel to other offices if needed
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment - checking in and checking out approximately 300 patients per day
Qualifications
- Experience working with an electronic health record
- Knowledge of Medical terms
- 1+ years of experience working in medical front office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, and maintaining medical records

- Demonstrated ability to work well with healthcare providers
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
