About the role

The Associate Mechanical Design Engineer - Cost Reduction at Kenworth Truck Company will design, develop, and implement commercial truck design improvements utilizing various fabrication methods. They will utilize Creo Parametric to create assemblies meeting structural, ergonomic, aesthetic, and quality goals. This role involves working through the Product Creation Process, managing projects, and validating designs with internal and external organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Create assemblies using Creo Parametric to meet structural, ergonomic, aesthetic, and quality goals.
  • Utilize Creo Parametric to design commercial truck improvements.
  • Manage projects through the Product Creation Process, reporting updates and learning Six Sigma skills.
  • Collaborate with internal and external organizations to validate designs.
  • Work closely with multiple PACCAR divisions to manage multiple priorities and goals.
  • Apply creativity to design tasks and propose innovative approaches to standard work.
  • Up to 10% travel may be required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • 0-1+ years of experience required.
  • Proficiency using Creo Parametric or other CAD solid modeling software preferred.
  • Competence in personal computer software such as word processing, database, and spreadsheets.
  • Resourceful in solving complex technical problems.
  • Independent judgment and effective project management skills.
  • Ability to manage costs, time, and resources; strong self-motivation.

Skills

  • Strong proficiency in Creo Parametric or similar CAD software.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Experience with project management tools and techniques.
