Associate Lecturer/Lecturer/Senior Lecturer – Department of Mathematical Sciences (Continuous Recruitment)
This is a continuous recruitment posting for future part-time associate lecturer, lecturer, or senior lecturer opportunities in the Department of Mathematical Sciences. Applications will be kept on file and considered for per-course assignments as needs arise. Teaching one semester does not guarantee assignment in subsequent semesters. Teaching load varies between 1-12 credits per semester. While primarily on-site, partially remote and remote opportunities may be available.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
- Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
- Serves as an initial point of contact for students regarding specific course content and expectations
About the Department
The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers majors in Mathematics, Mathematics with Actuarial Emphasis, and Mathematics for Teacher Certification. It includes 25 faculty and academic staff across three campuses (Stevens Point, Wausau, and Marshfield) with about 65 mathematics majors. The department is committed to diversity in its curriculum and prepares students for a diverse and inclusive world. It is housed in the School of Mathematics, Computing, Physics & Astronomy and provides mathematics courses for the general education program and other majors.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, mathematics education, or a related field
- Relevant work or teaching experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in mathematics, statistics, mathematics education, or a related field with at least 18 graduate credits in mathematics
- Secondary or university-level teaching experience
