Associate Lecturer - Hairdressing

Location: Bedford – Brooks Salon

Contract Type: Sessional – Hourly Paid (UK based, Right to Work in the UK required)

About The Role

We are currently seeking an Associate Hairdressing Lecturer to join our Hair & Beauty department at The Bedford College Group.

• Teaching & Learning Delivery – Delivers and assesses high-quality Hairdressing programmes across Levels 1–3, creating engaging and inclusive learning experiences that support students to achieve their full potential and progress into employment or further opportunities.
• Assessment & Student Progress – Monitors, records and evaluates student achievement, ensuring assessments meet awarding body requirements, providing effective feedback and implementing interventions to support progress and success.
• Curriculum Development & Quality Improvement – Develops and reviews schemes of work, creates innovative learning resources, contributes to quality assurance processes and supports continuous improvement in teaching, learning and curriculum delivery.
• Student Enrichment & Employer Engagement – Enhances the student experience through enrichment activities, industry-relevant opportunities, marketing events, open days, careers activities and wider curriculum engagement.
• Professional Responsibilities & Compliance – Works collaboratively across college teams, maintains up-to-date sector knowledge, promotes safeguarding, equality and diversity, health & safety, and upholds TBCG’s values while placing the student experience at the heart of all activities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and assess City and Guilds Hairdressing and Barbering qualifications at Levels 1, 2, and 3.
• Teach various hours as an associate lecturer (sessional, hourly paid).
• Flexibility to teach evenings/weekends and travel between campuses.

Requirements

• Relevant Hairdressing qualification(s) with GCSE English and Maths.
• Industry experience and recent teaching or training experience.
• Commitment to achieving a teaching qualification where required.
• Strong classroom management, communication, organisational, and IT skills.
• Ability to deliver engaging learning and manage priorities effectively.
• Experience embedding innovative teaching practices and maintaining high standards of delivery.
• Detail-oriented, adaptable, and professional with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
• Committed to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and health & safety.

Pay

£21.50 per hour (unqualified) / £22.50 per hour (qualified).
