Associate Lecturer - Art and Design
About the role
We are currently seeking an Associate Lecturer in Art and Design (Mainly Fine Art) to join our Creative Arts department at The Bedford College Group.
As an Associate Lecturer, you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Teaching & Learning Delivery - Plan and deliver high-quality teaching across a range of courses and levels, creating engaging and inclusive learning experiences that meet individual student needs.
- Assessment & Student Progress - Assess, verify, and monitor student work in line with awarding body (UAL) standards, providing feedback and support to ensure achievement and progression.
- Curriculum Development & Innovation - Develop schemes of work and creative learning materials, contributing to course development and embedding innovative teaching practices.
- Student Support & Engagement - Guide and mentor students through tutorials and vocational opportunities, promoting positive behavior and helping learners reach their full potential.
- Quality, Administration & Compliance - Maintain accurate records, contribute to quality assurance and course reviews, support marketing activities, and uphold safeguarding, EDI, and health & safety standards.
Qualifications & Subject Expertise
- Degree in Art & Design with a teaching qualification.
- GCSE English and Maths.
- Strong knowledge of UAL curriculum and current industry practices.
Experience
- Experience delivering Art & Design across FE levels.
- Creating schemes of work, lesson plans, and project briefs using a range of creative techniques and processes.
Organisation & Technical Skills
- Highly organized with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Track student progress using college systems.
- Confidently use Microsoft Office.
Communication & Collaboration
- Strong interpersonal skills to engage diverse learners.
- Built positive relationships.
- Contribute effectively within cross-college teams.

What is an Associate?
Associates work on a short-term basis as assigned. They teach or provide support services, and they work with and are supported by core staff. As an Associate you will be issued with an Associate Agreement, under this Agreement period you will be eligible to work on assignments offered to you.

Bedford College has a number of sites across the town and surrounding areas, these include our main Cauldwell Street campus in the heart of the town, our hair and beauty salon on the High Street, the advanced automotive centre on Brunel Road and the gas and technology plumbing centre in Kempston.
