About the role

Harris Beach Murtha seeks a career-minded associate-level attorney to work on a variety of issues in the labor and employment practice group.

Responsibilities

• Perform research into a variety of labor and employment matters
• Draft and revise handbooks and policies
• Communicate directly with clients for a variety of reasons including providing day-to-day legal advice, as needed
• Respond to discovery requests
• Prepare deposition outlines, prepare exhibits, prepare witnesses
• Assist partners in preparing for mediations, arbitrations, oral arguments, hearings, fact finding conferences, and trials
• Second chair and where appropriate first chair mediations, arbitrations, oral arguments, hearings and trials

Qualifications

• 1-4+ years’ experience in labor and employment law or in litigation
• Admission to New York State Bar required
• Juris Doctorate degree with an ABA accredited law school and be an active member in good standing of the bar
• Excellent research and writing skills
• Able to effectively communicate orally and in writing
• Able to function effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Demonstrated high level organizational skills for prioritizing workload
• Maintains high standards of performance
• Exhibits conscientiousness, dedication, self-discipline, and a sense of responsibility
• Able to work with diverse personalities within various levels of the organization
• Military experience welcome

Pay

Rochester (Pittsford), NY: $120,000 - $165,000
