About the Role

BakerHostetler is seeking an associate (5-7 years of experience) to join its Atlanta office as part of the nationally ranked Labor and Employment Group, recognized by Chambers USA and Best Law Firms. The Atlanta-based Employment Deal team represents and advises public and private companies, as well as senior executives and management teams, on employment laws, restrictive covenants, employment-related litigation, executive compensation and contract negotiations, and corporate deal support involving employment law issues. The practice regularly includes a blend of sophisticated litigation, counseling, and transactional work.

Responsibilities

  • Handle corporate litigation matters with a focus on labor and employment issues
  • Engage in labor and employment litigation, including non-compete and restrictive covenants matters
  • Review, negotiate, draft, or revise employment-related agreements
  • Conduct employment-related due diligence
  • Perform legal research, fact development, deposition preparation, written discovery, and discovery disputes
  • Draft motions and briefs

Requirements

  • At least five years of experience in corporate litigation practice
  • Experience in labor and employment litigation, non-compete and restrictive covenants matters, employment agreements, or employment-related due diligence is a plus
  • Proficiency in legal research, fact development, deposition preparation, written discovery, discovery disputes, and drafting motions and briefs
  • Am Law 100 experience is strongly preferred
  • Strong academic record with a J.D. from a nationally recognized and accredited law school
  • Admission to practice in Georgia or eligibility to waive into the Georgia Bar

Skills

  • Excellent project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive the litigation process
  • Exceptional legal research, persuasive writing, and oral communication skills (law review or comparable experience is a plus)
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced workload while maintaining priorities and anticipating issues
  • Strong professional judgment, client service focus, and interpersonal skills necessary to succeed in a collaborative, cross-office team environment
