About the role

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is seeking an Associate IT Portfolio/Project Analyst to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Director, IT Workforce Strategy & Operations, this role plays a crucial part in managing specific components and assigned tasks within the product management and service development processes.

Responsibilities

  • Manages specific components and assigned tasks within the product management and/or service development process
  • Translates business requirements to technical requirements for developers to understand
  • Affords assistance in the development of user stories with traceability to source
  • Affords assistance in the analysis of business operations to identify process improvement opportunities, and the modeling of current and desired scenarios using defined models, methods, and tools
  • Maintains and runs reports to evaluate value realization against product, risk management, service, or project goals and objectives
  • Affords assistance to the testing team with the development of test cases based on the requirements
  • Affords assistance with the delivery and collection of organizational assessments
  • Participates in product demos and testing and attends industry presentations
  • Affords assistance or performs product demonstrations
  • Affords assistance in the development of service/product descriptions and helps maintain service/product catalogs and documentation
  • Affords assistance with the execution of resourcing activities in collaboration with delivery team managers
  • Researches market trends and customer behavior that will help contribute to feature development and operations improvements
  • Affords assistance in the development of customer journey maps and product innovation roadmaps
  • Collaborates closely with product & operations management, developers, and designers to implement product enhancements based on business requirements
  • Actively participates in agile ceremonies
  • Affords assistance in the development of effective reports and documents to communicate findings and analysis to team and business stakeholders
  • Works closely and directly with design and engineering teams to deliver solutions that have demonstrable and measurable impact
  • Engages closely with the engineering team to help determine the best technical implementation methods to achieve our customer and business objectives
  • PARTNERS WITH ENGINEERING, DESIGN, DATA, LIFECYCLE, AND MEMBER SUPPORT TEAMS TO SUPPORT BUILDING SOFTWARE COLLABORATIVELY AND INCLUSIVELY
  • PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS)
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
  • Prefer at least one certification in the current platform/domain/technical skills

Technical Skills

  • Expert experience with common developer productivity tools like Jira, Confluence, etc.
  • Capable of understanding technical concepts
  • Capable of process-focused execution, having successfully driven technical programs for enterprise products in a fast-paced environment
  • Capable of working with enterprise customers
  • Capable of working with project management tools and workflows
  • Familiarity with product delivery
  • Familiarity with SQL is ideal; working with tools for data analysis and programming languages (e.g., Python or R) for data handling and analysis
  • Familiarity with business analysis or project management
  • Familiarity with all phases of the business application development lifecycle
  • Familiarity with agile methodology
  • Basic knowledge of the business and a comprehensive understanding of how systems relate to it
  • Working knowledge of IT service development concepts
