Associate Instructor Patient Care Technology/Medical Assisting

About the Role

The Associate Instructor for Patient Care Technology/Medical Assisting (PCT/MA) will teach and supervise students in both classroom and clinical settings. This position reports to the Director of Nursing and involves instruction in anatomy, medical terminology, phlebotomy, electrocardiography, medical math, and other related areas. Classes are scheduled Monday through Thursday from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with clinical hours varying. Travel to other TCAT Athens campuses and clinical sites may be required. Classes are anticipated to start in September 2026.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate classroom instruction, evaluate and monitor student progress, assign grades, and provide academic assistance.
• Maintain attendance and grade records, counsel and advise students on career goals, and work to retain students.
• Develop and revise courses, curricula, and instructional materials; select texts, equipment, and supplies.
• Participate in the purchase of program supplies and equipment; maintain updated course syllabi.
• Remain current in instructional field and technologies; attend professional development and in-service activities.
• Comply with FERPA laws; assist in student advising, recruitment, admissions, orientation, and job placement.
• Support student activities, including SkillsUSA and NTHS.
• Participate in accreditation, assessment, and performance funding processes; assist in recruitment and selection of college personnel.
• Maintain an active program advisory committee; develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, business, and industry.
• Work to meet and exceed COE benchmarks for student completion and placement; attend graduation exercises and mandatory college programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or administration, both on and off campus.

Requirements

• Current active licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Tennessee.
• Minimum three (3) years of successful nursing experience, with two (2) or more years of long-term care experience highly preferred.
• Prior teaching experience or evidence of ability to teach students.
• Knowledge, experience, and certifications necessary to instruct in Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), Phlebotomy, EKG, CPR, First Aid, Anatomy, and Medical Records.

• Willingness and ability to meet clinical site requirements for supervising students (requirements subject to change).

• Flexibility to handle a variety of tasks and adapt to changing situations.

Pay

Salary Range: $51,149 to $61,379
