About the role
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Murfreesboro is seeking a full-time day instructor for the Industrial Maintenance Control program at the Smyrna Campus. This position involves teaching evenings to high school and adult students, with a commitment of at least 37.5 hours per week.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized instruction to adult and high school students to prepare them for employment in the field.
- Teach students about diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment.
- Incorporate advanced studies and troubleshooting in Electronics, Fluid Power, Motor Control, PLC logic and programming, Robots, and Mechatronics manufacturing.
- Maintain good public relations with business and industry, assist with advisory committees, and cooperate with outside agencies.
- Maintain an organized, safe, and stable learning environment that meets COE accreditation requirements.
- Aid in recruitment and placement of graduates.
- Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements.
- Supervise and follow up on students participating in cooperative education.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least three (3) years of experience in the IEM/M field, preferably within the last five (5) years.
- Post-secondary Skilled Trades credential from an accredited institution.
- Three or more years of technical teaching experience.
- Five or more years of industry-related experience.
- OSHA 10 certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) labeling and policy.
- Ability to remain current in the instructional field and maintain personal certifications and program accreditation(s).
- Effective use of Microsoft Office programs (including Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams) and other basic computer software.
- Good communication skills for teaching and interacting with high school and adults.
- Evidence of good character, organizational skills, and mature attitude.
- Ability to make decisions based on evaluations of situations.
Physical Qualifications
- Walking, bending, sitting, and squatting to demonstrate skills on campus equipment.
- Using arms, hands, fingers, tools, or special devices to work, move, guide, or place objects.
- Communicating for extended periods while lecturing.
- Sitting at a computer for extended periods to enter data.
- Concentrated mental and visual attention, i.e., see at close range.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs. and moving about the teaching area to demonstrate and perform all occupational duties.
Salary
This is an exempt position. Salary is commensurate with qualifications, education, experience, and in accordance with the guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
