About the role

Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Shelbyville is seeking a Full-Time Instructor in Industrial Maintenance Automation (IMA).

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized classroom, lab, and hands-on instruction in industrial maintenance automation.
  • Demonstrate safe and effective use of industry tools, equipment, instrumentation, and automation systems.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and document student progress.
  • Manage accurate records and submit required reports.
  • Maintain a safe, organized training environment in compliance with OSHA and industry safety standards.
  • Affiliate with student recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with business and industry; support advisory committee activities for program improvement.
  • Participate in professional development to remain current in the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (HiSET acceptable).
  • Postsecondary diploma or Associate degree in related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of work experience in industrial maintenance, automation, manufacturing, mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Industry-recognized certifications or technical training in industrial maintenance, automation, or related fields preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach both technical theory and hands-on application in industrial maintenance automation.
  • Ability to teach and effectively engage with high school and adult learners.
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and industry partners.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office or similar programs.
  • Knowledge of Safety Data Sheet (SDS) labeling and policy.
  • Physically able to perform instructional demonstrations and field activities, including climbing, lifting up to 30 lbs., and working in outdoor environments (with or without accommodation).
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.

$55,983-$67,181 annually, commensurate with education and experience.

Schedule

Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (minimum 37.5 hours/week).
