Associate Instructor - Industrial Electricity
About the role
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Murfreesboro is accepting applications for a full-time faculty position in the evening Industrial Electrical (INE) Technology program. This is a full-time position requiring a minimum 37.5-hour workweek (Monday – Thursday; 1:30pm – 9:30pm and Friday 8:00am – 1:30pm).
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized theory and hands-on instruction to adults and high school students to prepare them for employment in the field.
- Monitor, grade, and evaluate individual student progress; maintain student records in the college’s student records management software; maintain appropriate documentation; submit timely reports; and assist in recruitment of new students and placement of graduates.
- Work with other INE program day instructors to coordinate both day and evening programs to ensure curriculum continuity between both sections.
- Maintain good public relations with business and industry, maintain an active advisory committee and cooperate with outside agencies.
- Supervise and follow-up on students participating in cooperative education.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in the building construction field (electrical and plumbing), preferably within the last five (5) years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary Skilled Trades credential from an accredited institution.
- Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
- Show evidence of good character, organizational skills, and mature attitude.
- Be willing to remain current in the instructional field and maintain personal certifications and program accreditation(s).
- Possess computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Possess the communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and interact with high school and adults.
- Show strong hands-on technical background in the field.
- Show a high degree of knowledge in the following areas: basic safety, hand tools, power tools, construction drawings, plumbing, pressure systems, drain, waste and vent, electrical and plumbing rough-in and finish.
Physical Qualifications
- Bend, sit, and squat in order to demonstrate skills on EPT equipment.
- Communicate for extended periods while lecturing.
- Sit at a computer for extended periods to enter data.
- Lift 50 lbs.
Salary
This is an exempt position. Salary commensurate with qualifications, education, experience and in accordance with the guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
