Associate HR Business Partner
This role partners with the People & Culture (P&C) team and business leaders to support ESPN’s employee population and advance HR/P&C and business initiatives. The Associate HR Business Partner assists in delivering day-to-day People & Culture services and resolving issues for assigned client groups in a fast-paced, customer-service environment. The position reports to the Director, HRBP.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and assist in the day-to-day delivery of People & Culture services and resolution of issues for assigned client groups; collaborate directly with leaders, employees, and Business Partners across client groups.
- Assist employees with interpretation of routine HR policies and procedures.
- Interact with client managers and staff to ensure understanding of and compliance with approved HR policies; advise leaders and employees to foster openness, trust, appreciation, and respect.
- Apply business knowledge to identify needs, spot emerging trends, and use critical thinking to uncover issues and propose alternative solutions.
- Coordinate and partner with other P&C professionals to implement enterprise-wide People & Culture projects and initiatives.
- Operate effectively with minimal supervision on routine matters and escalate complex issues as needed.
- Maintain employee system records and ensure data accuracy.
- Support employees during onboarding and offboarding, address concerns, and mediate workplace disputes while building strong connections through responsiveness, reliability, curiosity, and self-awareness.
- Manage change by adapting to shifting priorities and finding creative solutions.
- Participate on project teams.
Requirements
- 3+ years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources or an equivalent field.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong troubleshooting skills to analyze trends, identify alternative solutions, project consequences, and implement recommendations while maintaining compliance.
- Ability to integrate and initiate work with key stakeholders and functional partners to deliver appropriate solutions.
- Ability to exercise high judgment and discretion while maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Ability to instill trust, influence others, and understand the impact of your actions.
- Willingness to establish and maintain communication and working relationships with peers and representatives across The Walt Disney Company and ESPN using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.

Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of most employee lifecycle HR activities, including Organizational Development, Talent & Growth, Talent Connection, Total Rewards, Opportunity & Inclusion, Employee Relations, and Labor Relations.
- Proficiency in analyzing HR metrics and trends, interpreting data, and recommending solutions as a consultant.
- Proficiency in MS Office suite, Workday, and SAP.
- Knowledge of modern HR principles, methods, practices, employment laws, and regulations.
- Strategic mindset to contribute effectively to the human resources department.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
Pay
The hiring range for this position in Connecticut is $87,200.00 to $106,400.00 per year. The base pay offered will consider internal equity and may vary based on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
